Cy Young Award
The Cy Young Award goes to the most outstanding pitcher in each league based on the player's wins, losses, ERA, and strikeouts. The Cy Young Award we know of today was introduced in 1967. In 1956 the award was given out to honor the baseball pitcher Cy Young. Until the year 1967, the award was given out to the best pitcher in the MLB. Before 1956, pitchers just hoped that they did good enough to get the MVP Award. The Cy Young Award is given out by the Baseball Writers Of America. The writers give out first, second, third, etc. place votes. If all 32 Baseball Writers give a first place vote to a pitcher, the pitcher wins by "Unamouis Decision".
